When i first joined this game, i was certain that i wanted to become a succsessful businessman. And so i though everyone else had the same aspirations. But after seeing some pensioners (players older than me) with Economy Skill 6 working for a'la 1-1,5g per day, i was surprised. Why haven't they founded their own companies and started working for their own benefits? I once heard a saying from, i think it was R. Kiyosaki, who wrote "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", that as much as i become better at what i do as an employee, i will not make myself richer, i will make my employer richer. So here is a little something that i hope will make you guys think more about investing in yourself.
I started out just like the rest of us - broke and wandering about e-sim aimlessly, with some motivations from elderly people, who, let's be honest - couldn't and don't give a crap about motivation, they just need to raise their consumption limits . I started work in Reval, which was stable but somehow not enough. So i flew around the world husling for some profit, a calculator and monetary market tab being my BFF's. Somehow, I couldn't get ahead. Even if the buying cost in gold was smaller than the selling price in gold. So heres the first lesson:
Account for incidental expenses and TAXES
For every flight you take, you must consider the price and quality of the ticket - If you travel by q1-q4 ticket you have to account for the price of the ticket itselt, but also for the food or gifts that is needed to restore your health. When travelling by q5 ticket, you only need to account for the price of the ticket. Na'am SAYIN ?
Taxes: When buying something, you do not have to pay any taxes whatsoever. However, when selling something on the market you do have to account for local taxes. You can access the information on taxes by hovering on the "Country" tab, and selecting "Economy". In the "Select Country" selection you may choose a country whose tax regulations you want to see. Scrolling down the page, past the "Regions" section, will get you to taxes section.
There are three possible taxes a state may impose on players: VAT; Import tax; Income tax. You need to account for all of them if you sell product in a country that you do not have a citizenship of. However, import tax is not imposed on you if you sell something on the market of a country you are a citizen of.
An example:
Lets say I want to know if i could make a profit from selling food on the Estonian market.
For this example let's say i want to know what my net income would be when selling a bread at 5EEK. By the way i mentioned above i now know that the taxes on food in Estonia are: VAT 5%; Import tax 35%; Income tax 10%.
If i am of Estonian citizenship i would have to account for VAT and Income tax which add up to 15 %. So to know what my net income on one bread would be, i would multiply the gross price of that bread (5EEK) with 0,85% (i seriously hope i do not have to explain elementary school maths here ), and i would find that the net income would be 4,25 EEK.
If i am not of Estonian citizenship i would have to account for VAT, Income AND Import tax which would add up to 50%. So to know what my net income on one bread would be, i would multiply the gross price of that bread (5EEK) with 0,50%, and i would find that the net income on that one bread would be 2,50 EEK.
In any of these two cases mentioned above, you would make profit if, and only IF, the net income exceeds your gross expenses.
I was planning on doing a full bio and e-sim financial 301 here but due to hitting F5 instead of #5 and having to type most of this again, I will leave the tips and 101 of entrepreneurship to another article.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
Its creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
