Ok. Everyone else is doing it so I figured with a few hours left, I would post my opinions on the CP elections.

And, yes I will be spamming the shout box with the article, so Vote and Sub and Read then ignore me.

At first, when the candidates made their announcements I was pretty much divided. We have Pfeiffer who has done a lot in the short time being in the US. Yes, he was a former UK citizen. Yes, he spams the heck out of the shout boxes at election times (and usually gets the most votes.) And, yes, a lot of people do not like him. But he knows the game; he knows the people that play it; he knows how to get things done when he wants to.

Wreckbeard has been around for a while. I have served with him in Congress and on a few Cabinets over the last few months. He relates well to the newer player base as he is not bringing it a lot of baggage or history from other games to prop himself up into power here. He has also done enough, both in front and behind the scenes, to be noticed by many people. I have never heard anything bad about him or problems he has caused. The biggest drawback, in my opinion, would be the lack of 'public' experience.

Out of the three candidates Feefaroni seemed to be the darkhorse of the group. I know she has been around for a while. I know she has accomplished a lot in this game (and others.) But the biggest problem I have with her is the perception that she is new. Not everyone plays other games and knows the history of each and every individual that moves from one game to the next. She has no built in support with the newer players here but has some with older, experienced players. Another big problem with her is that most of what she does here is done quietly, behind the scenes. She does not plaster her name everywhere on every program she runs or every little job she is given. As a person I greatly respect that. However, in a game like this where perception is greater than realitiy, she 'publicaly' seems to have little experience and has not done as much as others.

So, with that being said, I was all for Pfeiffer being the next CP of the United States of America.

I spoke to him, and others in chat, and was fully intending to write an article backing him for CP.

When I was writing the article yesterday, I had to keep stopping and revising. Something kept nagging me about Pfeiffer campaign. Then then the articles started. First by Liquid_HOMICIDE and then by others. Then the SPAM started in my inbox with members of my own MU telling me to not vote for MU member Feefaroni and then from members of other MUs telling me to not listen to the messages from my MU members and to vote for my MU member Feefaroni . So, all in all, an annoying 4th of July.

Obligatory relevant photo because people can't read anymore

Still, as I was finishing up my article, something kept nagging me, so I had my significant other read over the article. She gave some little tips here and there, nothing major. So I asked her to summarize it for me and when she did, it hit me. RETENTION!

Over and over we have been being subjected to candidates' buzz words and retention was the big one by Pfeiffer . He has mentioned many times how that is the key to the country, to get players here, to build them up, to build up the country. Getting players in is easy. Keeping them playing is hard. The country that keeps the most (legitimate) players will be the powerhouse to reckon with.

So my question became, if retention is so necessary and important, why is it not so for the Congress.
Over the last term and a half Congress has been pretty much in a slump. During that time Pfeiffer has been the Speaker of the House. During my time there I never received a Welcome to Congress PM, messages in-game on when important votes or discussions came up, nothing official from the SoH. And over the course of the last term, people disappeared. Yes, they voted in-game, but IRC and the forums are still quiet.

There are discussions up for building a new US Military Unit to get all citizens into a MU that want to be in one. It stalled and the SoH has done nothing to move it along.

There are discussions up for either creating a new US Elite MU or allowing a current private MU to become the official US Elite MU. It has stalled and the SoH has done nothing to move it along.

There are discussion up for creating a OMS Department responsible for funding all US MUs with gold or supplies to build up all the damage in the country. The SoH was critical that the discussion did not have all the necessary numbers or funding information. Since, the discussion has stalled and nothing has been done to move it along by the SoH.

Now, to be fair, I have been PMed in IRC often by the SoH Pfeiffer for votes and nominations, but those always included nominations for Speaker of the House (which he was running), votes for SoH (which he was nominated), and proposals being made to the current Congressional Laws (which he had re-written.)

So, with all that being said, I could not, in good faith, back or support Pfeiffer for CP.

I will not telling you who to vote for.
I am just voicing my concern on who I thought would have been the best CP and that those opinions changed.

I will be voting for Feefaroni but you should make up your own mind on who to vote for.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
