La noche del domingo se dio a conocer que con el 96% del cómputo de la elección interna panista la candidata había obtenido 64,503 votos, es decir, 53.9% del total, según el cálculo de la Comisión Nacional de Elecciones (CNE) del PAN, a cargo de José Espina.
Durante su discurso en la en la sede nacional del PAN, la virtual candidata expresó: "El 1 de julio del próximo año a estas horas se sabrá en México y en el mundo que este país tiene a la primera presidenta de su historia".
Además, subrayó que Enrique Peña Nieto y el Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) son el verdadero adversario a vencer en los próximos comicios.
"El día de hoy termina la contienda interna y comenzamos un nuevo camino para derrotar al verdadero adversario de México, quien representa el autoritarismo y lo peor de la práctica antidemocrática, ese adversario es Peña Nieto y su partido", señaló.
Por su parte Enrique Peña Nieto saludó el triunfo de Vázquez Mota en Twitter: "Felicidades y bienvenida a la contienda democrática @JosefinaVM. Que sea por el bien de México", a lo que Vázquez Mota respondió unas horas después también a través de la red social: "@EPN Gracias, que sea por los ciudadanos".
Por entidades, la diputada con licencia ganó en 26 de los 31 estados y el Distrito Federal, Cordero en 6, Campeche, Chiapas, Nuevo León, Puebla, Sonora y Zacatecas, mientras Creel no obtuvo el triunfo en ninguna entidad.
Vázquez Mota es una opción respaldada por la cúpula empresarial en México, así lo indican las preferencias electorales de los CEO de Las 500 empresas más importantes, pues en su mayoría, manifestaron que votarían por la precandidata panista, superando a Enrique Peña Nieto del Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) y a Andrés Manuel López Obrador del Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD).
El el indicador de confianza empresarial Pulso Expansión 500 de CNNExpansión, medido a finales de 2011 arrojó, a pregunta expresa sobre por quién votarían si fueran en ese momento las elecciones, que el 53.7% lo haría por Vázquez Mota, mientras que el candidato oficial del tricolor se quedaría en el segundo sitio con 16.7% y López Obrador alcanzaría el 3.7% de los sufragios.

Los delegados del PAN confían en que una candidata podría impulsar el atractivo electoral del partido. Varias mujeres han sido elegidas recientemente para dirigir gobiernos en toda América Latina, como en Argentina, Brasil, Costa Rica y Chile.
