I created my e-sim account on Day 11 and one of the very first things that really came as a surprise to me was the fact that Greece and Serbia were “enemies” in the game. Greece had rushed to join an Alliance called A41, while Serbia had already joined another Alliance called IMEN back then.
Eh well… It didn’t feel right... I was raised to believe Greeks and Serbs are friends and brothers.
History has always been one of my favorite reads and I know we (Greeks) have always been on the same side with Serbians. From Mediaeval times to modern era Serbs and Greeks have always been on the same side. Why should we be on different sides on e-sim? It didn’t make much sense.
A few weeks later Alliances underwent deep transformations. For a couple of days it seemed Greece and Serbia would be on the same side at last. To my frustration, no such thing happened. Greece joined ALPHA, Serbia chose to stay out of it. So, Greece is now on the same side with countries like China, Brazil, Argentina etc, while Serbia is on the same side with counties like Indonesia, Turkey, Republika Makedonija etc.
It still doesn’t feel right. It still doesn’t make much sense. Not to me at least. And I know it doesn’t feel right for many Serbian people as well. I know there are many Serbians who avoid fighting against Greece as much as they can, as I know there are many Greeks who avoid fighting against Serbia whenever they have an alternative. This is no coincidence; History has forged strong bonds between our two Nations. That's why it doesn't feel right for Serbs to fight against Greece and visa versa.
Some people tell me that “it is only a game”. So what? Even in a game does it feel right to see Serbia and Turkey on the same side? I believe it doesn’t. Some people also tell me “this is a heritage from another game”. So what? Are we bound to the decisions some other people made long ago in another game?
Does this make any sense to you? To me it doesn’t.
I’m not suggesting Serbia should join ALPHA. I’m not suggesting Greece should join IMPACT either. I’m not even suggesting we should create a new Alliance (Oh well, perhaps we should start considering this new Alliance thing one of these days, but that’s not my point right now.)
What I’m trying to say is that Alliances do not live for ever. A few weeks ago it was A41 and IMEN. Now it is ALPHA and IMPACT. Tomorrow it will be something else. It would be unwise and immature of us if we allowed ALPHA and IMPACT dictate our policies and control our feelings. Greeks and Serbs should never forget we have always been friends and brothers.
Countries need regions and resources. Conflicts will arise over recourses, Alliances will be formed and Wars will be fought. We all know that; it’s a part of the game. Yet, this only provides the framework; it doesn’t determine the picture. It doesn’t determine who is to be our friend or foe. This depends on us to decide. Let us all use our hearts and brains and make the right decisions. As for me, my heart and brain both tell me that I’d rather have Serbia as my friend; not as my foe.
Conflicts over specific issues may arise even between the best of friends. It’s a part of life. Even so, the primary distinction is between friend and foe. There is no excuse if we let some trivial conflict turn a friend into a foe and, as far as I am concerned, I strongly believe Greeks and Serbs need to be ingame friends, as they are friends and brothers in the real World.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
