You all know kMeel , the man behind many Admin news articles and the right-hand man of Railman. I was going to interview him once before, back when he started the position of Community Manager. Bunch of things went wrong so instead i'm doing it over a year later. I think that's good since by now i'm much more experienced with e-Sim and how to interview about this game. For example on thing that the epic interview with iPSiArt thought me that 1st part is supposed to be smooth and basically an introduction, while in the 2nd part you will get the real questions. That's how it's gonna be with kMeel also.
Btw, i know some people have been asking me for that 3rd part with Ipsi. I'm sorry but i had to cancel it because at the time i just didn't have any time myself. And now my topic has moved on. This time i'm only gonna promise 2 parts. Although who knows... It took me and will continue to take some work with this interview, so please appreciate it. I want to make it as interesting as possible for you but i also wanna have fun, it's summer outside. I will probably bring you the 2nd part next week. Stay tuned!
1. kMeel , supposed "link" between the players and the staff, welcome to this interview. 1. Welcome Orlandio .
2. How did you come across at this "community manager" job you have here in e-Sim? 2. Hehe, a typical job interview. CV, 40+ minutes of eye to eye interview with Rail.
3. How is your job location like? Do you work at an office or...? 3. We all work in a cooworking office. I sometimes work from my house, especially when I am sick or when players give ma a hard day and I have to work alone in order not to kill any of the devs. You can also say that my workplace is also any party I attend to cuz even there I open my e-sim mails. My friends think it's rude, my GF tells me I am not at work then, but I am addicted to e-sim's players and helping them. You know. You may not think of me like that but I treat e-sim players like family. I always say to my gf - those are my players, they count on me. For example recently I answered for Kotera 's questions by mail on the Dropkick Murphys concert in Cracow.
4. How personally do you know the owner and God of this game, Railman? 4. I sat next to him day by day for over a year. Now we sit in separate rooms. So, I think I know him very well.
5. Describe Rail as a person to us. 5. A very organized guy, writes everything down, a one man army, intelligent, chilled, polite and modest.
6. Staff members, Rail and developers are continuously getting a lot of heat from the players. I'm not gonna ask whether you think it's somewhat undeserved. Instead i'm gonna ask: which of them in your opinion deserves it the most - Railman or some of the developers? 6. Let me say that finding the person who deserves the guilt is the bad way. We all make mistakes, we try to be better and better. I am the firewall for hate and accusations. I present it to the team after filtering the negative things out. We all know our guilts, believe me.
7. What do you feel yourself as your biggest success in your job at e-Sim? What are you not so happy about? 7. This is a hard question. I make many things at the backstage you do not even know of. But thinking about the answer... The biggest success is when a player is happy because of me directly. The biggest failure, when he/she is unhappy. so for example: I was happy when players told me they cried when I passed the idea of adding their country into the game (for example Albania on Secura), when they thank me for the translations (I fought for them hard), when I gave Turkey on Secura 3k players by FB ads, contracts, when they were happy when I rushed the devs with Rail to fix the bugs (you do not probably remember this, but there was a time when we dropped from 600+ to 30+ in two weeks), I talk with the players outside the game, after my work, I try to help them in some of their personal cases, when I manage to help, I feel happy and honored, when they simply approach me with trust, I feel happy, recently for the 1001 days contest, when I am able to help asap, I feel happy. Man you could talk on and on about it. I am not happy if they feel ignored by me, I can't help them, I disappoint them in some way, so I am for example not happy that I have disappointed jakegate7 a long time ago, Kalista , Kotera , Xenos, Hrvoje Macan , Ipsi, essex , MatthijsM , Donat , Freedom1923 , ImeemI , Account , theShark, you Orlandio with our last interview, EnjoyMe today, Nushid , Regit , Tywin_ , Lithuanian players when I had to block them after the famous mass salary cheat (I sat 14 hrs at work to fix the whole thing), djetc , Sahand and many others. I remember my every fail. Even when it is nobody's fault, a machine crash like with the last server crash, I feel ashamed cuz I am a player myself for almost 16 years and I know how it feels when something fails and your work goes down the toilet like some of you say.
8. What intrigued you when you first came to work on e-Sim? 8. One of the strangest communities I have even encountered. Believe me, you are unique.
9. I know you already did to a lot of people in the 7th answer, but do you feel the need to publicly "apology" for something to e-Sim community? 9. Yeah, for all the things mentioned before, broken promises, today I have realised that I have set the bonus gold event instead of the drops (probably the players will accuse me of cheat) so I apologize for this too. I wil lset the bonus drop for the next week
10. For the finishing line of our 1st part: what skills does one need to become a community manager? 10. From the first day I came to you many things have changed in my experience. In the office we have a saying "the universe has verified your plans". I would do some things in another way with the experience I have now with the e-sim community. You have to be an enigma decoder to pass the language of normal people to robot devs. You have to be patient, you must be tough when somebody tells you are a $#$#$# or even a $#$#$#$# (before I learned this skill I had to do a bit of suicide downhill every day after work), you must be the mediator between the god above and the people who believe in him and still keep your zen level high. You must be able to take all to blame on your chest. You have to learn from your defeats. You cannot be driven by emotions. You must know who to listen (if a player comes to me I must know if his idea is good only for himself or for the whole community. Believe me, some time ago I have read approx. 50 ideas a day for the economy, politics, modules, support = will wood/stone fix cure the economy or is it the normal reaction of the market, will the option of kicking a party member help to move the politics in the game to a higher level or will it allow the leaders to kick the members who are not in favor, will the merge option in something help or destroy sth, is the new option in the map more important than a fix in the market). You must know what to pass first, what is more important than anything else, you must sort out the important things from the mud only for your boss to decide at the end of the process. You think I am the decider here, I AM JUST THE MESSENGER. There are many ideas not accepted yet but still waiting or developing (for example the Android app at this very moment). Every day shows me I need to learn more and more from you. But at the end of the day i love it cuz one act of a player's gratitude pays off the whole trouble for me.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
Invest, produce and sell - be an entrepreneur in E-Sim.
Take part in numerous events for the E-Sim community.
