First off I would like to say that while I am a long way from agreeing with proponents of low import taxes I understand their argument. I would also like to say that I hold no grudges and that I assure you that my opinion comes from experience not prejudice. This article was not made for all products on the market since I only truly understand the US Iron and Weapon markets, mostly the Iron since that is what I deal in. I wrote this article to both bring my side opinion to the public’s view and to better inform the public in a better format than shouts. Finally, I wrote this article mostly in response to this article by Sir Hypnotoad .
This whole thing was sparked by two recent laws put to vote in congress. One to change the import tax on Weapons from 15% to 3%, sadly it has passed. Though fortunately the bill to change the Iron import tax from 15% to 3% has failed. So we lost one and won one. But it was close which gives me hope that it will change back.
So the first thing that jumped out at me about Sir Hypnotoad ’s argument was that he said congressmen were unwilling to do their jobs and check the Congress Forums. Whether that is true or not is insignificant to this debate. If I were in congress I would have done two things:
1) When I heard about this debate I would have made it public since it does not concern security and the American people DESERVE to know what’s going on with our taxes.
2) No matter how the debate went on the forums I would still have voted no, unless convinced otherwise by good arguments.
Second and this is the BASIS of their argument: lowing import taxes will increase competition and get rid of inefficient businesses…… Really? So let’s look at this shall we: Inefficient businesses are inefficient because THEY DON”T KNOW HOW TO BE EFFICIENT. So by increasing competition you’re not going to get rid of inefficient businesses any faster because they’re going to be just as ignorant of it as before. More competition will simply mean it will be harder for actual efficient businesses to just earn an income! No let’s look closer. Lower Iron prices caused by more competition will help Weapon producers right? WRONG! Because there’ll be more competition in Weapons too since they already lowered the import tax there. And here’s another kicker: By lowering Import tax we’re opening our market up to foreign inefficient businesses.
Now lower prices are good for the consumer right? WRONG! Lower prices mean lower wages. Tuh-duh! Now one thing I’d like to clarify about Sir Hypnotoad ’s article is that he didn’t mean young players run inefficient businesses (even though it did kind of sound like that). I believe that he meant that we shouldn’t protect inefficient businesses by trying to help new player get into business. Since unfortunately many young players along with bad business owners fall for the same trap. The wrong Q business. To be competitive with others in business with Iron you need at least a Q3 company and even that is a stretch. But that leaves an obvious problem: Q3+ companies cost a lot more than any new player has.
We educate not suffocate. More competition means everyone gets suffocated at least a little, not just the inefficient. So we educate everyone on how to run successful businesses by newspaper articles, by shouts, by IRC, by PMs, by the forums, and by any other ways possible! No won’t more efficient businesses mean even more competition then lower import taxes? NO! And that’s the beauty of it, once someone knows how to run an efficient business they’ll know enough to recognize when the market has no more room, when the market is balanced and that by entering it that they’ll be inefficient!
Thank you for reading this I have just a couple closing sentences. One if I am informed of something new in the comments I will update my article, this is the best I could do on my own And though I’m really excited about this I realize that this is just a game and have no sour feelings. I would also like to say thank to Sir Hypnotoad for helping me format my article (knowingly or not) since this is a response to his article, I meant no offense to you and if it came out like that I am truly sorry.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
