A few days before the latest CP elections, I was approached by Jude Connors on IRC in his attempt to find out why is Brazil so dreadfully inactive, not even taking its usual night rounds. I had to rediscover the hot water by telling him that there are not many people available to fight and even if there were, there was no one from the government to supply them. Even I, in my bias towards Brazil, had to tell him to stop sending people to fight here because there is simply no point at this stage. He hardly waited for a second invitation considering the more pressing need for MU orders being set against Canada.

Sometimes having internal issues is not the end of the world before a CP election because there is always a chance that a more appropriate government would step in. Well, in this case it probably is because the race was between Nicolai, the incumbent CP, and Taliberti (there was a third candidate but its probably a guy that pressed the wrong button). Choosing the former would have probably meant keeping the status quo with its pros and cons. The latter, however, is a new face pretty much known for his frequent presence in the Brazilian media module. I have no problem with people that are not in the game for longer because sometimes you can see that they possess the organizational skills to be involved in the e-sim politics. Yet, you know this awkward situation when someone looks so bad that you think “they look so bad that probably I’m wrong and they are actually good” but you end up realizing they are indeed bad? Well, it works out like one of those. You see someone with little actual knowledge of the game mechanics, little strength, questionable English and the only strength I’m meant to believe he possess is being “new face”. But let me start off with how the guy got elected which is somehow easier to explain with the one of Swifty’s pics from this article i.e.

That easy? One peculiarity about Brazil in e-sim is that some of the people go so much after role-play that they eventually lose the plot. Party quarrels over each others policies(as if it matters), shout announcements about how much more they love their country than others, naming their MUs after the real life army divisions…you name it. In fact, I am here since the Alpha days, coming over from another ally member and I was seen by some as some kind of PTOer while others thought I’m here to help one party against the others. One even went as far as telling me about an e-sim constitutional rule(turned out constitution doesn’t exist) that non-Brazilians should not get Brazilian citizenship in game. Point being is, many people did not (and still don’t) realize that this game hardly follows the everyone-should-be-in-their-own–country scenario while also communication and cooperation with other nations is CRUCIAL. So, yes, to stop diverging from the theme of the article - it’s that easy!

But let’s just say that the guy is new but has people with experience behind him. After all, in many cases the current CPs end up being part of the government. That’s not an option here because he would either be a CP alone or not in government at all. Yet, someone is and they are already in talks with Spain?!? I pm the CP to ask him but he did not reply. Luckily, I see him login on IRC though I had to wait for him before he can eventually talk to me. Our talk was pretty much on the alliances and bar the fact that we are somehow allied with Argentina and the USA, he had no idea of whats happening across the e-sim world (it did cross my mind testing him to see if he knew what G7 is but what’s the point?). On the issue of government(larger version ):

I know its just a game and all but surely if someone from congress like me asks about this, I reckon I should get a more straight answer. Actually it’s not as if I have no vague idea who is behind. It’s the usual case of small time people trying to get some extra fighting resources under the table but untangling the dodgy stuff would over-stretch the article too much, get it messy and it’s not its main purpose anyway. Now, a few days into this mandate, the blunders are starting to take shape. Someone (doesn’t become clear who) is negotiating with Spain? Never mind that there is still meant to be an ongoing NAP that was broken big time but I don’t need to be present to know how Spaniards pluck numbers out of their backsides. The government is either naïve enough to think that something will come out of this, as if it never crossed anyone's mind to try it before, or they are pretending to be doing something because it doesn’t even become clear who, when and how are those negotiations done. But on more day-to-day issues, people that are regularly on IRC and work at minimum wage in a government firms are either not receiving their supplies or could not work altogether because there is no raw. This is treatment towards the players that did the little damage that Brazil had to offer. Instead, the government is replaced by shout-heroes that are pretty much only good at clogging the shout area with role-play politics. The previous government was criticized for printing money which is now gone. Well, printing has its problems, I agree, but so does the readiness to take on loans .

All in all, this government is a disaster waiting to happen for Brazil and the only consolation is that it happens at a time when we are completely taken over so it probably wont do as much damage. You don’t try to figure out a cabinet or what your policies are going to be after you get elected! You don’t win battles with shouts! You don’t act surprised that the country is in dire situation (I don’t need to be in control of Brazil Org to know it) and spend like 90% of the current time blaming the previous government (whether rightfully or not).

Argentina and the USA remain our closest allies, something that we are grateful about! Yet, exactly because these relations go both ways, I believe that in this particular situation, our way of helping is by advising you to stay away and use your damage where it would make more sense for the greater good. Hopefully, this would not be for too long.

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
