It is still great:

Greetings, West Point Hopefuls.

My name is TheHentaiChrist, a/k/a Nicholas Ryan on the Forums and DerpyHooves on IRC. I have been asked by Wreckbeard to impart my knowledge of the battle module for your benefit. I am a civilian and, as such, you do not salute me. I am an Honors Graduate of the Training Corps and was a Senior Officer in the eUnited States Armed Forces on eRepublik and am currently Commanding Officer of TOP GUN on e-Sim so you would do well to pay attention.

You are young and the damage you do, on your own, may seem trivial. If used improperly, it will be. Following the Rules of Engagement will create the greatest possible value for your fights, at any level and experienced players follow them.

HOLD YOUR DAMAGE

The absolute worst thing you can do is get your orders, run out to the battle immediately after day change and blindly throw your damage at whatever’s happening. The servers reset at 1800 Eastern Time and 1400 Pacific Time, the longer you wait to fight the less fights there will be available from other players. This puts damage dealt in the last few hours before the reset at a premium. Unless your CO orders you to drop your damage, you should be aiming for as close to server reset as possible.

WAIT FOR THE END OF A ROUND

This may appear not to make a difference, especially at earlier levels but that is simply not true. Dropping your damage early allows the opposing force to compensate and figure how much damage they will need to direct to the fight. Unless otherwise ordered, your fights are best done within the last half hour of a battle and, ideally, should be done in the last 5 minutes if you can make it happen.

FIGHT IN GROUPS

This is why use of IRC gets stressed so much, it allows several players who would not be able to swing a battle on their own to leverage their damage as if they were one much stronger person. If you can go on IRC and fight with your comrades, you will be a much greater asset than a lone gun.

DON’T WASTE YOUR DAMAGE

A round that is won by 90% to 10% isn’t worth any more than a round that is won by 51% to 49%. If a battle has 60% damage or greater for your side, don’t fight there. Wait until it drops below that or find another battle. However, most rounds are decided in the last 2 minutes so it’s usually better to keep an eye on it and wait for the round to conclude. Even if you will not be able to wait for the end of the next round, you will have more of an impact fighting at the beginning of the next round than fighting a round that is already won. That is pure waste.

A Day in the Life - How to be Effective on a Daily Basis

When you first log in, take care of your daily tasks. Work, train and buy the supplies you plan on using that day. Then you will check your orders, as laid out by your Commanding Officer. At the time of this writing, I do not know what system will be used but that should have been explained to you by now.

If you are not clear on how to do this or where to go, message your CO and check. We count on every one of you to not throw your damage blindly and proper coordination is how nations win battles. Russia commands 35 Million Damage on any given day, but if their fighters throw 20 million of it away by not following the Rules of Engagement, a much smaller enemy that fights smart can still beat them.

Now that you know your target, take a look at it. If there are only a few rounds left, you will probably be given a target to focus on when that battle concludes. Remember, damage later in the ‘day’ is worth a lot more than damage early in the ‘day’, so if you're unsure it’s always better to hold your damage than to be impatient.

If your target is a Resistance War, you will probably need to move to the DEFENDER’S COUNTRY. You *must* be in the defender’s country or you will NOT BE ABLE TO FIGHT in a Resistance War. (Picture on Next Page)

In this case, Sweden has started a Resistance War against Lithuania. Only people in Lithuania will be able to participate in the battle. Jude Conors and Mr Kittybottoms had to move to Lithuania. They are also probably in the Bohus region, since being within the region the RW is taking place gives you a 20% Damage Bonus. In normal battles, Attackers in bordering regions get a 20% Damage Bonus and Defenders in the region get a 20% Damage Bonus. If you have to move to fight, remember this and you will gain ranks faster.

At this point, Sweden is looking good and I won’t fight here unless damage starts to show up for Lithuania. There are a few more hours before reset and I will have to go to work in about an hour and a half, so I will probably wait for the beginning of the next battle and give Sweden a good start on it. Since my damage will be dropped early and I’ll have to move home to work, I will leave myself with 50% health when I finish fighting, so I can be at 100% when the day changes and save those extra ‘buffer’ fights for something more critical.

More like Guidelines - Orders vs Rules of Engagement

ALWAYS FOLLOW ORDERS FIRST. Your CO gets his orders from the President and is your CO because, hopefully, he knows what he’s doing. If your orders tell you to do something that isn’t recommended in the Rules of Engagement, follow your Order. You are being told to do so for a reason, even if you don’t understand what the reason is.

The Rules of Engagement exist to as a guide for when you don’t have orders, aren’t sure what to do or when to fight and how you you should fight unless you are told otherwise.

There’s one other important thing to keep in mind. This is a game and only a game. Real life ALWAYS comes first and if you want to go out and get drunk with your friends instead of waiting another 2 hours for the next round to get to the end, I fully expect you go out and get drunk with your friends.

This guide exists to inform and guide your in-game behavior, not dictate how much real-life you get. The surest way to burn people out is by expecting them to be online at all times and put Sim America in front of their real lives and when people burn out, they stop playing and America loses out on all that damage permanently. We would all much rather you be an ineffective fighter once in awhile and get to cut loose or deal with your real responsibilities, than lose you entirely. No one’s going to scold you or be pissed if you have to go and, if they are, FUCK THEM. Right now I am Speaker of the House and lead TOP GUN and you better believe, if I want to go out and get rowdy, I do it.

If you’re confused on anything I’ve talked about here, it’s okay to ask your CO. You can even ask me, I’m an alright guy and I’m around a lot. As you are around and learn the game, you’ll gain a greater understanding of the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of the rules I’ve laid out, but only if you aren’t afraid to ask questions. And that’s how we gain the greatest asset of all, informed, active players.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
