Australian beachgoers drop their trousers for toilet protest
Protesters dressed in bowler hats and black suits stage a sit in on toilets an Adelaide beach, protesting the puiblic facilities in the area.
Twelve people, dressed in bowler hats and smart suits, carried their own toilets down to the beach, placing them in a line on the beach front before dropping their trousers and sitting.
The protesters said they were demanding public toilet facilities, of which there are currently none, in the local area.
A local photographer Andrew Baines came up with the idea of the protest, and will paint the scene for an exhibition in January 2013, after taking photographs at the event on Sunday.
He said though that creating this sort of work was about more than just the aesthetics.
"I think this is the job of an artist to take these issues to the wider community and let people talk about it," he said.
Beachgoers often have to ask local cafe owners to use their toilets, disturbing customers and inconveniencing the owners.
But Kym Hewitt, a local business owner, said he sympathised with those beachgoes faced with little choice.
"The public toilets are not up to scratch at all and quiet often we have a lot of people coming through to the cafe, sort of not really dressed for the cafe," he said.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the local council is currently consulting the community about the best place to build the toilets

Queen's corgis 'attack' Princess Beatrice's terrier Max
They may be among the Queen's favourite subjects but her corgis are in the doghouse after getting into a fight with one of Princess Beatrice's pets.
Max, an 11-year-old Norfolk terrier, is said to have been badly injured after a “nasty” encounter at Balmoral castle last week.
The Princess’s beloved pet nearly lost an ear and suffered several bloody bite injuries that had to be treated by a vet, in the latest in a series of scraps between royal dogs.
It comes just a few days after the death from natural causes of another dog belonging to the Duke of York's elder daughter.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were said to be “very upset” about the incident, thought to have occurred last Sunday.
The Queen was elsewhere in her Scottish castle when the fight erupted between six corgis and three Norfolk terriers.

'Watergate' and 'Chillax' among top 100 most influential English words
'Watergate' and 'chillax' have emerged as two of the most important words in the history of English, according to an academic study.
David Crystal, Honorary Professor of Linguistics at the University of Wales, Bangor, has picked out 100 words to illustrate the changing face of the language from medieval times.
His choices reflect popular culture over the centuries and the development of the internet and text messaging in recent decades.
For the Anglo Saxon period Prof Crystal included 'mead', 'street' and 'lea'. For the medieval era he has opted for pork, dame and royal.
The words chosen for the period between Shakespeare and the King James Bible – 'alphabet', 'dialect', 'shibboleth' and 'potato' will all be familiar to modern readers.
But other words for more recent centuries will be a bit more challenging such as 'fopdoodle' – a term for an insignificant fool.

No time for self-reflection as new trend sees women giving up mirrors
Women are giving up gazing into mirrors in an attempt to stop obsessing over the way they look in a new trend dubbed 'mirror fasting.'
The new movement, which was started in the US by a group of female bloggers, recommends people abstain from staring at their reflection.
It includes avoiding looking at reflections in computer screens and shop windows and has been dubbed 'mirror-fasting.'
Autumn Whitefield-Madrano, a 36-year-old freelance writer based in Queens, New York, told The Observer : "I'd become aware that I had a mirror face.
"Whenever I saw my reflection I'd open my eyes a little wider, suck in my cheeks a little and tip my chin down in an effort to make myself look more like I wanted to. It made me feel really vain."
Whitefield-Madrano began her first 'mirror-fast' in May 2011 and kept it up for a month, claiming she felt calmer after the experiment.

Sotheby's chairman shot in face saved by glasses
The chairman of auctioneers Sotheby's, who was shot in the face during a grouse shoot, was yesterday (MON) believed to have been saved by his thick-rimmed glasses.
Henry Wyndham, 58, chairman of Sotheby's Europe, is believed to have been injured after a gun was accidentally fired towards him while he stood at his post.
It sprayed shot into his arm, throat and face. Doctors believed yesterday his vision has been spared because he was wearing a sturdy pair of spectacles which protected his eyes.
A helicopter ambulance whisked him to hospital from the Scottish moor and he was treated for 52 lead pellet wounds. The shoot had been organised by 56-year-old American hedge-fund manager.
Mr Wyndham an Old Etonian, has been released from hospital and is now recovering at a holiday cottage in Scotland with his family. A source said: "Henry was very lucky. If he had not been wearing glasses, he would have been blinded."
Mr Wyndham is the highest-ranking auctioneer at the auction house. He swung the gavel when the world record for the most expensive artwork sold at auction was broken in 2010, when Giacometti's Walking Man sculpture fetched £65.8 million from a mystery buyer.
His sister-in-law said at the family home in Lewes, East Sussex : "He's fine. There's no danger to his sight or to his career.
"He's still up in Scotland and I don't know when he's planning to come down.
Sotheby's spokeswoman Mitzi Mina, said: "We can confirm that Henry Wyndham sustained an accident on the grouse moor and is currently on track for a full and rapid recovery." She added: "His sight won't be affected."

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
