Fast Track is back with another article, This one is on the Istome Bridge. Please remember to check out our wiki and contact me or genyo about writing a section for us. Thanks!
The Istome Bridge is 1200 feet long, 250 feet high, and 100 feet wide. The bridge can hold more than 500 tons at its maximum. The bridge was built in the year 3621 to connect the continents of Woda and Mayi. It was commissioned to be built by Kithon of Gesh from the continent of Woda in the year 3600. The original plans had the bridge built out of Jothel wood but the material proved too weak to hold all the weight that would be necessary.
Kithon sent men out searching for the best materials to build the bridge out of. The materials needed to be strong enough to span the entire distance across the Istome Straits and to hold up over time. After discussions with the leaders of Ula, the city that would be near the bridge on the continent of Mayi, about building a bridge, the builders found the perfect material. It was iron mined from the caves around the city of Lez. The material was strong and could be held up by a series of towers placed every 150ft. The towers were made of iron and stone. A rope made of Jophel tree fibres, would hold the bridge up and place the weight of the bridge onto the towers.
The bridge took 20 years to complete and made traveling between the Continents easier and quicker. A horse and carriage could make it from the outskirts of Gesh to the edge Ula in 15 minutes instead of the hours it used to take due to the complications involved in ferrying across the straits. The surrounding cities and towns flourished because of the bridge. The towns became major centers of trade and the ports grew from having just a dozen boats to over 50 coming in and out each day taking goods to and from the cities.
Only 50 years after its creation a terrible thing happened. The leaders of the two cities disagreed on how to now pay for the bridge, which had cost them lot of money to build. The leaders of Gesh wanted to just write it off, claiming the gains that the bridge brought, far outweighed the expenses incurred. The leaders of Ula wanted to collect a toll, which they were sure the merchants would agree to pay, in order to travel the bridge. Gesh’s leaders disagreed, and were concerned that the merchants would refrain from using their markets, as it would again cost time and/or money to bring their businesses there. This was a major disagreement, and the cities went to war. There was an instant stalemate as neither side wanted to cross the bridge. They were both afraid of archers waiting on either side, who were ready to send well aimed arrows. The countries had a few skirmishes as they waited for the other side to make a move.
The leader in Ula who had the feud over how to pay for the bridge died only 2 years into the stalemate. The new leader wanted to end the war peacefully. So a compromise was determined that no tax would be in place upon people crossing the bridge, only ships that brought goods in would pay a docking tax. The bridge has brought major trade to the area and businessmen can ship the goods further inland for reselling. The twin cities of Ula and Gesh have grown substantially and the residents have prospered as a result of the building of the wonderful bridge.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
