The Vampires have arrived. Hope you stocked up on garlic.
...
Just kidding, that stuff doesn't really work. You're screwed.

Time for another report about Congress!

On the forums, there isn't terribly much activity. We show up to pass things we have to (like Hell on Wheels money for the war effort or funds for Defense Systems to bolster our national defenses) and then occasionally post on other ideas (such as an Office of Milita Support, what we should do about stock companies applying for citizenship), but it's slow-going. I blame that mostly on the time of year, it being summer and all, where people are more inclined to actually be out and doing things not related to eSim (the horror, the horror!).

In terms of in-game proposals, we printed 250G worth of money for the national peg (the peg is a large offer on the Monetary Market posted by USA Org that keeps our currency exchange rate stable), deployed some buildings in Cork/Kerry to help ensure we could defend it from the Portuguese, denied a stock company's application for USA citizenship (which wasn't discussed beforehand and was proposed for the sole reason of evading import taxes), and renewed some MPPs (Greece, the UK, Iran, etc.).

Lately, sometimes an MPP hasn't gone through because the foreign country doesn't have enough gold in their Treasury. After a few days of rolling my eyes/pointing and laughing at some countries (you know who you are), today, USA found itself in the same situation.

We had pending MPPs with Mexico and Canada, but only 5 gold in the Treasury. So I went on IRC to find either the Secretary of Treasury or President; while I found neither, Speaker of the House Fievel (as he shall henceforth be known, because I'm tired of the comments) decided to launch into action and donated to the Treasury, asking me to donate the remaining gold needed, so I did.

With the gold donated, I checked the Mexican and Canadian Treasuries to make sure we wouldn't have a repeat of history (both were fine, sitting at 20 gold and 13 gold, respectively, with the required amount being 10 gold per country). It's possible that someone would've logged into the national Org and donated the required gold to our Treasury in time for us to successfully sign both MPPs, but honestly, I don't think you'd want a goverment that operates on "maybes" and "likelihoods" -- especially when it didn't cost much to ensure that that the MPPs definitely went through successfully. Some hours after the MPPs had passed, we were paid back by the Treasury Dept.

If you're wondering why we decided to sign with Canada (Mexico was an MPP renewal for a country that has shown great support to us in Azores battles), it's because of more than just "another ally is always a good thing." We've been on semi-good terms since we agreed to a monthly rental agreement for CEC with them; this MPP is a sign that our relations are getting better. Though it's not just symbolic: this MPP is also good for us because it gives us another local ally in case a foreign power (like Portugal) decides to invade us. It remains to be seen how much military support Canada will be able to muster, but I'd still rather have them with us than against us if it comes to that.

And on the topic of war, war abounds! You might notice Taiwan has a civil war going on and that we can see it on our battles page thanks to our new MPP with Taiwan (we signed it today; it was generally agreed that because China and Taiwan are very close politically, and we're already friends with China, that we could be friends with Taiwan as well).

You can't fight in the battle, though -- if you try, it'll give you some message about native citizens only. So whoever said war isn't a spectator sport never met the Civil War module of eSim, eh? I talked to the Secretary of State Mark Michaelson and he let me -- and, upon my asking, the rest of Congress -- know that he spoke with Tawainese officials, who said the Civil War is just an excuse for Battle Hero medals. Which is a shame, because I was totally prepared to say either "Viva le revolution!" or "Crush the rebel scum!" depending on where we stood on it. Oh well, maybe next time!

Meanwhile, our staunch ally Sweden has had some woes recently and we'll be looking to support them for the time being -- though don't expect Lithuania's new buddy Portugal to sit around and do nothing during this time. Who knows, they might even launch a counterattack on us to keep our focus away from the Sweden vs. Lithuania war.

As for how much it costs to keep Azores vs. benefits of keeping Azores, I haven't heard back from the Treasury Dept. so there isn't any reason to start a new topic on that yet.

Vampires walk amongst you and I am one of them! The Red Queen... or just Red for short.

Turning to a less serious, but much more personal topic, you'll notice that as of now, the American Vampire League has gone public , which means so can I. Although previously declared Pony, I now pledge my undying loyalty to the AVL, for however long we actually care to exist as an official entity in sUSA.

With Abroham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter on sabbatical, it seems like a fine time to mention to officially emerge from the shadows. I mean, I'm sure The Guardian and Chancellors aren't afraid of him, but I'm newer to this whole vampire thing! On a final note, expect a proclamation (or press release, as they call it nowadays) from The Guardian later tonight.

Until next time, sAmerica,
~Astra

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
