Greeting Comrades, it is good to speak with you.
Please forgive the Ponies, that's sort of my trademark. ^.^
You may or may not recognize my name, I started that Resistance War in the Eastern United States the other day and I suspect many of you showed up to my little party. Several hundred people attended, so you will have to forgive me for not remembering your names. I would like to take this chance to point out that I am soley responsible for this action. I spoke to government representatives who advised against it and said they could not and would not faculitate me in any way. I got donations of gold from the restless people of America. But, I do not wish to digress...
After the festivities, I had the pleasure of speaking with your Minister of Foreign Affairs in our IRC channel. We had quite a long conversation and I found him to be an interesting and amiable fellow. I must say, I've always liked Russians. Your people have a particular way of being completely insane and entirely charming that always warms my heart.
In our conversation, it was suggested that I write a letter of appology. I'm afraid this might not be entirely what you are hoping for, since I cannot say I am sorry for looking out for my people. I am not sorry for that. I am sorry it was inconvenient for you, however.
But, let us speak about history a bit.
America and Russia have long held a rivalry; we both entered the 20th Century as peripheral powers in a world that revolved around Europe. Then Europe destroyed itself and for the first time, the center of the world became a pole, and it revolved around Moscow and Washington D.C. Unfortunatly, this has frequently been far more terse than a friendly rivalry. I suspect it is a matter of pride as both our peoples tend to be very proud of their countries and can become offended easily.
I played a game before this one, but similar to it. America and Russia spent many years going around in circles with each other. To be honest, it got to be quite dull and I have no desire to repeat that experince. I enjoy our rivalry but I am not one to take anything too seriously and would rather compete with my friend than my enemy and my friendship is open to all the people of the world. The same cannot be said for all people, though.
The resistance I started was for a very simple reason. The American people had no battle to fight, we had little place to turn to to gain precious experince and ranks and we had no reason to consume goods and drive our economy. Certainly there were battles that could be fought in, but I think most of you understand that when the casual player sits down and logs on and sees no battles, they do not nessicarily go looking for them. More importantly, they are less likely to log on the next day. Worse, when a new player sees no battles on his first day and his only remaining task is to Fight they say 'Gay' and never return. As much as it was a nussiance to you, it was a passionate battle that spoke to my people's souls. 20 Gold and even the ire of the great Russian Empire is a small price to pay, when the pay off is inspiring and training a nation and pushing our economy forward. If I know the Russian people as well as I think I do, you would have done the same with every bit as much passion. And I think that's pretty Awesome.
Your MoFA expressed a concern that there was resentment among Americans against the Russian people and, indeed, there is much of that to be found. I would much prefer, though, if people resented the extremes to which Russia had taken advantage of a weak President and not resent the Russian people themselves. There is a difference and perhaps I am a poingiant expression of that difference.
Now, as we say in America, let us talk turkey.
I'm no fool. If I had truly meant an insult, I would have started the Resistance in Alaska to wear down your Hospital or in Pacific, which is all you are really interested in here. You have the rest of it because the person whom you came to this agreement with, this Non-Aggression Pact, did not have the cards he needed to play with and perhaps would not have known how to play them if he had.
America is not the same America you came to this agreement with.
Yesterday, our population exceeded 400 citizens. We have passed Brazil, Croatia and Spain and aquired 33 new citizens today and have been averaging 30 a day for about 2 weeks. What's more, I know many of these people from the other place. This is not the America you conquored. This is an America that will easily be able to organize underground and these are citizens that are in it for the long haul. We delight in the challenge.
You may balk at this or say I am speaking in hypotheticals; you will have a harder time balking at this.
Four days ago, another resistance was started in Eastern United States. We won two rounds and dealt, on both attack and defense, around 2 Million damage. We were defeated soundly.
Two days ago, I started a resistance in Eastern United States, around 0400 Central Standard Time. I had fully expected we would be defeated just as handily. But, as I understand it, your people were engaged in many conflicts at the time and could not bear down with it's full weight.
None the less, the United States claimed 6 rounds in a battle that raged for over 24 hours. More interestingly, only two days later, our combined attack and defense damage was just shy of 6 million. That's a 4 million damage improvement in a 48 hour period and I can promise you, it's only going to go up from there. A great many of us have only started in the last two weeks and are mostly under level 10.
More importantly; we have organized, experinced citizens who have every ability to harness this power under any circumstance.
Now, I appologize if that came off as a threat. It was not meant as such, it is simply a statement of fact.
Your MoFA told me he was disturbed by our resentment and seemed unable to understand why we would be resentful of someone who had not crushed us; why we were not friendly and better friends. I really was puzzled by this; if someone is standing with their boot on your throat, how can they expect you to be friends? How can they be surprised when you struggle? How can the promise of 'If you're patient, we might let you up eventually' be enough? It cannot and, if you wish to understand the American peoples resentment towards you, you need only understand that.
The American people have out-grown this Non-Agression Pact and they have quickly become a power Russia cannot afford to ignore, if they wish to continue their expansion. Certainly, you can handily defeat us any day of the week, there is no disputing that. However, you and I both know you would rather apply that damage in a forward direction; not trying to defend a useless Medium Lumber Region; let alone in a few days when we command 8 and then 10 Million Damage.
So, this is what I propose.
Give us all of our lands back, with the exception of the Pacific Coast. None of these hold any particular value to you anyway. You do value the High Iron region and I think paying a modest rent for dening it to us is not asking much of someone who desires our friendship.
America wants to be friends, even if they seem unfriendly. They are only hostile because they feel stepped on and, I dare say, many of you would be hostile as well, if you were standing in our shoes. In order to be friends, you must give a growing nation the room it needs to breath and to grow.
If you should not choose that, we all know the trouble that is brewing and nothing you or I do will change that inevetability.
That choice is yours, my friends.
