Patriotizmas (iš lot. patria 'tėvynė') – reiškinys, kai gerbiama, ginama ir mylima bei kartais - aukštinama sava šalis ar regionas, tauta, kalba, kultūra. Patriotizmu nelaikomas toks savo šalies aukštinimas, kai žeminamos kitos tautos ar jų tėvynės, - tuomet tai laikytina šovinizmu. Patriotizmo apraiškos išryškėja kylant tautiniams, teritoriniams konfliktams, ginant savo kraštą ir valstybę. Tokiose situacijose puolančio priešo sutapatinimas su visa jo tauta virsta nacionalizmu.
Patriotizmas dažniausiai skatinamas valstybės, nes ši nori užtikrinti savo saugumą nuo išorės priešų ir išlaikyti savo gyventojus lojaliais valdžiai. Patriotizmas ugdomas per švietimo sistemą, žiniasklaidą ir religines institucijas, valstybinių ir tautinių švenčių metu, patriotines organizacijas - Skautai, Ateitininkai, Šauliai, karių savanorių susivienijimai ir kt., kurios vadovaujasi šūkiu - „Dievui ir Tėvynei“ ar pan. Patriotizmu persmelkti valstybiniai himnai. Būna, kad prisidengiant patriotizmu savaip interpretuojami ir perteikiami istoriniai faktai ir iškraipomas istorinis teisingumas. Kosmopolitai yra linkę patriotizmui suteikti nacionalizmo atspalvį, o nacionalistai - pradinės nacionalizmo pakopos vaidmenį.
Pagal 1990-1992 ir 1995-1997 m. atliktus sociologinius tyrimus aukščiausi patriotizmo rodikliai buvo JAV,PAR(Pietų Afrikos Respublika), Kanadoje, Venesueloje, Peru, Turkijoje, Slovėnijoje, Lenkijoje.
