First off, I'd like to congratulate all the new members of Congress on their recent election victory! After 27 months I am still honored by the amount of confidence others place in me. Counting my months as President, I have been honored with your trust 30 times.

Now to get down to the point of my article.
With the elections bringing badly needed new blood into Congress, I feel it is important to provide a brief education on what is expected of US Congressmen, as well as how we do our jobs properly.
In most countries you run for Congress, get elected and propose a law in game, but we are not one of those countries. The eUS Government is a sophisticated entity that has many rules and guidelines in place to insure a smooth and ethical operation of Government. We discuss a proposal, make changes to that proposal, and then vote on the final Law Proposal on our free forum before bringing it to a vote in game.
Some of the laws we have in place, may not have even been imagined by the game developers. Some of the laws created on the forums would be the establishment of Hell on Wheels (HoW or simply Strikes) where we created a system for supplying American fighters during a time of war. This program was not envisioned by the game creators, but it is one of the systems that works, and when utilized is very effective.
Below I provided an example of a law/program established on the forums that is very effective when used. This law deals with the creation of the FBI here on primera.
Summary: This Act creates an investigatory body responsible for screening citizenship applications for hostility, and watching for signs of hostile infiltration in US politics.
Proposal: Establishment of the Federal Bureau of Investigation

I: Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
1: Appointment
Upon the position of Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation becoming vacant, the Speaker of the House shall, with all due haste, nominate any US citizen fitting the eligibility requirements enumerated in I/2 to fill the position. If confirmed by a majority vote of Congress, the nominee shall immediately assume the title, duties and responsibilities of the position.
2: Eligibility
In order to be eligible for nomination, a potential nominee must be determined through screening by a FBI Agent or by the Speaker of the House to be a model US citizen.
3: Impeachment
Any congressperson may propose that the Director of the FBI be removed from the position, but this proposal must pass a majority vote of Congress in order to take effect.
4: Duties and Responsibilities
• The Director of the FBI shall maintain a thread in the private FBI board describing the procedure to be used for screening citizens.
• The DFBI shall be responsible for appointing and managing a team of FBI Agents, which will aid in conducting screenings.
• The DFBI shall maintain a thread in the public FBI board describing the procedure for requesting a FBI screening.
• The DFBI shall maintain a thread listing all recommended denials of citizenship and all cases in which a congressperson has gone against such recommendations.
• The DFBI shall be responsible for ensuring that all lesser-known candidates for in-game political office are screened.
• The DFBI shall communicate directly with the Party Presidents of the top five parties concerning the results of screenings of candidates for in-game political office.
• The DFBI may also conduct screenings on any citizen, at his discretion.
• The DFBI has a duty to conduct all FBI affairs apolitically; screenings may not be used as a political tool, and results of screenings may not be made public unless doing so would help to counter a legitimate threat to national security. Failure to uphold this duty shall constitute grounds for impeachment proceedings.
II: Confidentiality
The DFBI shall safeguard the identities of all FBI Agents to the best of his ability. If a FBI Agent were interviewing a citizen as part of an official screening, and that citizen had knowledge of his position as a FBI Agent, that knowledge would likely influence that citizens responses to the Agent. For this reason, the identities of FBI Agents must be kept confidential. The -DFBI must fire any FBI Agent found to be breaching this confidentiality, unless there are substantial reasons not to do so.
Yeah, it's long.... But did you notice the detail? THIS is what the US Congress does on a regular basis. It is much more than pushing a button in the game, it is planning, proposing, debating and creating.
So how does a Congressman get involved on the forums?
Glad you asked. First you need to create an account at eusaforums.com. It is FREE.
After you do that set e-sim as one of your member-groups. If you have any questions about that let me know. It has been a couple years for me, but I can get you the information or send you to someone who is more familiar with it than I.
Then you need to sign in Here with your e-sim and forum username. After you do that the Speaker of the House (another forum only position) will grant you access to the Congressional Board.
After you are on the Congressional Board you will see current discussions and our Current Laws.
So how do you propose a law?
Well good news! We have a set of Congressional Bylaws that will give you all the details, but I'll go ahead and give you a general run down on how you propose a law.
Lets say I want to change the tax on Diamonds to 10% Income tax, 0% Value Added Tax and 5% Import Tax.
I would start by opening a thread and titling it something like [Discussion: Diamond Tax].
Then you add your proposal. Something like:
I would like to propose we make the diamond tax 10/0/5 because I feel raising the import tax by 4% will help boost the competitive edge for our local business owners. Thoughts/Objections?
At this time other Congressmen would have an opportunity to weigh in our your proposal. Lets say another Congressman disagrees and says the import tax should be lower/higher. At this point Congressmen will have an opportunity to come to a conciseness on what the law should be. After the [Discussion] thread is done the new tax plan is moved to a [Proposal] and finally a [Vote] thread. If the law passes it is then voted on and passed in game. If it fails then the bill is dead. However there is nothing that says you can not re-propose the bill during the next month of Congress.
Sounds complicated, but it is much more simple than it seems.
This system allows for the USA to have among the most thought out societal structures in the game. Though we are small and rather inactive at the moment, this method of operation keeps a nation our size among the forefront of international recognition, especially regarding economics. (Now if we could only get active again)
I can not stress enough how happy I am to see new blood in Congress, for many of us has been here for literally years and may not see things the way a young, fresh member might. Your ideas might be the very ones we have been overlooking, but crucial to improving our nation.

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
