而对待这些未来的官僚成员生力军，不管是再怎么专制腐朽的朝廷，也都总是表现得异常的宽容，一般都会派出重臣耐心劝解，最多就是惩处几个带头的人，几乎从来没有过查封国子监，把师生尽数下狱的疯狂举动——因为这些人就是未来的朝廷官员，如果过分地得罪了，岂不是就要担心在日后被秋后算账？
相反，要是闹事者并非身份特殊的士人，而是一般草民……那么通常就是血腥镇压没商量了！
于是，就在民国初年的动荡岁月之中，面对着遍地的文盲和失学儿童，一片空白的民族工业，这些充满了“民国范儿”的大师们，却心安理得地挥霍着仅有的一点儿教育经费，悠然自得地研究着历史、哲学、书画艺术之类缺乏实际意义的“传统国学”，或者翻译一些西方文学名著，同时对落后愚昧的国民视而不见，还自诩为国家柱石、社会脊梁……这究竟应该说他们是没良心呢？还是说他们没头脑？
有人看到了这种现象的荒诞，比如说鲁迅；有人却认为这才是知识分子应当享受的待遇，例如说胡适。
在过去，我们认为鲁迅是对的。现在却有越来越多的人，在推崇胡适的理论。
大家在这里不妨设想一下，假如在百废待兴的建国初期，我党不肯花钱搞现代化建设，构筑自己的独立工业体系，而是富有超前意识地组织了大批国学宗师和考古学家，去搞“夏商周断代工程”，号称要以此来提高民族荣誉感……不知老百姓会怎么想？恐怕只会大骂政府昏了头本末倒置吧！
所以说，北洋政府投入仅有的经费，养了一群窝在大学象牙塔里的“国学大师”和“留洋高材生”，却无视了遍地的文盲和一片空白的科研领域……这样只重视“贵族教育”的“民国范儿”，难道就很好？
四、所谓“不重视知识分子”的真相
说真的，在这方面，就是国民党的教育方针，都比北洋政府稍微强一些，至少搞过几个科学研究所。而担任教育部部长的陈果夫，还在1932年5月提出《改革教育方案》，竭力试图扭转这种文科生过剩而理科生匮乏的荒诞局面，为此闹得教育界一片哗然，引发了激烈的争论，修改了几次才勉强通过。
尽管有了上述一系列加强理科教育的努力，但到了抗战前夕，国难当头的时候，全中国还是有70%的大学生在读文科。而剩下的30%大学生当中，大部分读的又是医科或商科。真正在现代战争中最能够发挥用途，指导工人搞兵工厂、维修厂和建设战备公路的专业工程师，却是打着灯笼都找不到几个……
而搬迁到“西南联大”的那些大师们，最多也只能在报刊上发表几篇支持抗战的“精神原子弹”。
总之，民国的教育界有学术自由，有先进的治学理念，有国学大师，有“民国范儿”……就是没有培养出现代化建设所急需的技术人才，也没有诞生出像后世袁隆平那样可以让人吃饱饭的农科专家。
有人说，你这是人文科学无用论的错误倾向，伏尔泰、孟德斯鸠和卢梭这些法国启蒙思想的泰斗，也从不管老百姓吃不吃得上饱饭啊！
可问题是，上述这些思想界泰斗在著述立传的时候，法兰西也没有堕落到民族危亡的关头啊！
虽然每个人都有思想的自由，在诸位民国大师们之中，也不乏正气凛然，令人敬仰之辈。但是，相当一部分很有“民国范儿”的家伙，却是在一个租界林立、包身工遍地、洋人横行、工业基础全无，战乱频繁、饿殍遍野的悲惨国度，在一个生与死，血与火的动荡年代，把民族存亡的大义完全抛到脑后，反倒是站在亡国灭种的悬崖边上摆出一副优雅的姿态，讲究什么思想独立、学术自由，玩什么小清新，搞什么小资情调，例如说鸳鸯蝴蝶派……我该说这是冷艳高贵，还是醉生梦死呢？
相对而言，似乎还是六十年代那句“不穿裤子也要爆原子弹”的悲壮豪言，更能让人感到折服。
——优雅不是一个贬义词，但如果践踏和遗忘了民族存亡的大义，那么所有的优雅都是可耻、可憎，也是可怜的，宛如南朝陈后主那曲哀婉的《后庭花》。
整个20世纪上半叶，中国一直处于战乱、饥荒、贫困和愚昧的深渊之中。在这种背景之下，挥霍民脂民膏，追求什么“优雅”的文化，都是不合时宜的；谈什么民国风和民国范儿，更是非常搞笑的。因为1%上等体面人的“优雅生活方式”，根本无法掩盖99%挣扎在生死线上的底层同胞的无尽苦难。
如果说前面描述日本公卿的种种腐朽做派，多少是因为当时日本国内安静无事，并无开拓进取的必要性，可以安心享乐的话。那么民国年代诸位文化人的小资生活，就正好应了明末陈子龙那句形容南明君臣的名言：“清歌于漏舟之中，痛饮于焚屋之下，而不知覆溺之将及也，可哀也哉！”
其实，对于胡适这些很有范儿的民国大师们来说，只要走出北平、上海这些大城市，走出他们的校园、书斋和沙龙，就会看到真实的中国，可惜大多数民国范儿都看不见，而看得见的人则都成了左翼革命者。
回到正题，在新中国成立之后，我党之所以要号召全世界中华儿女回来建设祖国，乃是因为当时中华民族最优秀的理科人才，有很大一部分都散落在海外。而在国内的大学里，却只能找到一群学文科的国学大师，真正的工程技术专家寥寥无几……
很显然，不管这些大师们再怎么擅长摇笔杆子、妙笔生花，也画不出工程蓝图啊！
接下来的时间里，中国人民的主要任务，显然就是要热火朝天地搞社会主义建设，在一穷二白的国土上建立起民族工业体系。在这种时代大背景之下，究竟是科学家、工程师更重要，还是国学大师们更重要？

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
