Greetings, America.

It's good to be back. I didn't think I'd come back but, in the end, I just missed it here too much and felt like a sore thumb in Japan. Indeed, active or two-clicking, this is where I belong.

I came back to see a rather heated series of articles between Rashid Jones and various established members of the community. I think we're all pretty well aware of what all was said and done, so I won't go into too much detail, but suffice to say that Rashid is a new player with a lot of drive and mistook our tight-knit community as being directionless and mismanaged.

It's an easy mistake for a new player to make.

The fact is that, for the most part, we all pretty much know each other and know the drill. Not a lot really needs to be said. To the eyes of an outsider, that can pretty easily appear to be a failure in leadership.

But, you know, for all the articles and comments that have been flying back and to and fro, it seems that no one really looked at his attempt to flip tables and say, 'That guy's got a lot of energy. We should try to put him to good use.' Sure, everyone told him what was wrong with his theses in the comments but... does anyone really respond well to being loudly and publicly corrected? I sure don't.

So, I did something that apparently no one else did and I PM'ed him and told him he should come on IRC and talk with the rest of us sometime. A couple hours later, he logged in and replied right away asking how and he was on IRC with me a few minutes later.

Now, of course, the IRC information is in the Welcome Message and new players would be wise to read that. But it really didn't hurt anything to make that little extra effort to engage a guy who was clearly looking for a way to interface.

And you know what he told me?

He told me he thought everyone must hate him.

That just breaks my heart.

We are so desperately in need of new players who want to be active and engaged and want their turn at the helm, does it really serve us well to laugh and say 'No', rather than bite our tongues and say, 'I don't think you're ready yet. Why don't you come here and learn the ropes, so you can be ready sooner?'

As I said, we're a small and tight-knit community and we're lead by easily some of the sharpest minds in the game. This is our greatest asset but I think there is a hidden danger in that, if we are not vigilant. We can be small and we can all know each other without being exclusive. We can engage new players without implying they're stupid, even when their efforts are misguided.

Even that SAR fellow, who is to be sure a bit of a dumbass, should have his place at the table. I do not doubt our community's ability to judge who is fit to hold power and there is no danger in tollerating his voice. Sure, there will be times when it's laughable but... why not just laugh it off?

SAR might be a bit of a dumbass, but Snowball the Dinosaur can be a bit of a dumbass too. I mean, come on. He's been in congress forever, rarely responds to the discussion with anything but a**holish quips and trolling and votes 'No' on everything just because.

But that's what we love about him.

Just think of all the hilarious antics we might miss out on if SAR were to leave, if he hasn't already.

Everyone and everything has a value and every flaw can be an asset, as long as you understand what direction to approach it from.

P.S. Rashid is not wrong, either. There's no reason we shouldn't have full Defense Systems up in PC. His reasoning was off, sure and there's no eminent danger of attack, but it's not like we're too poor to afford them and we don't need to invite the kind of f***-ups that tend to come up with 11th hour scrambles to take care of business. I forget to place DS's too and it's probably not a big deal but he wasn't wrong to point that out.

Love,

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
