馬尼拉（他加祿語：Maynila，英語：Manila）是菲律賓首都，位於菲律賓的最大島—呂宋島馬尼拉灣的東岸；今為菲國第二大城，人口有150萬；乃全國經濟、文化、教育和工業中心，現為被稱以「馬尼拉大都會」（Metro Manila）、人口達1000萬的都會區之發展核心。在同屬此都會區的眾多城市中，僅奎松市（Quezon City，菲律賓舊都）人口多於馬尼拉市。馬尼拉之名源於一種生長著白豔花朵的濕地樹（Maynilad），許多觀賞過的人們都以「那些白色的花開著，便像一雙雙亮晶晶的眼睛」形容它。她所屬的這個都會區，菲律賓官方稱為「馬尼拉大都會」（Metro Manila），一般外國人和非定居者通常簡稱以馬尼拉。全區由17座城市和直轄市所組成。
在宋代稱為蒲哩嚕，最早見宋代《諸番志》：「蒲哩嚕與三嶼聯屬，聚落差盛，人多猛悍，好攻劫。海多鹵股之石，搓牙如枯木芒刃，銛於劍戟，舟過其側，預曲折以避之。產青琅玕、珊瑚樹，然絕難得。風俗博易，與三嶼同」[1]。
16世紀中葉，馬尼拉只是一個在帕西河（Pasig River）岸邊、信仰著回教的小漁村。1570年，西班牙人抵達馬尼拉。1595年，公告馬尼拉成為菲律賓群島的首都。1898年美西戰爭，西班牙戰敗，馬尼拉改由美國治理。1942年1月2日，馬尼拉被日軍所據；1945年2月23日美軍奪回了這座城市，不過未能阻止馬尼拉大屠殺。在二次大戰攻防期間，菲律賓大部份的城市都被摧毀，但戰後也大部份迅速被重建。1975年，馬尼拉和周圍城市組成馬尼拉大都會。
今日馬尼拉已經被「全球化與世界級城市研究小組與網路」評為世界級城市。並且是全球第二十四大消費都市.
馬尼拉位於呂宋島西部，馬尼拉灣東岸、帕西河的入海口，帕西河橫貫全城；位於納沃達斯市（Navotas）、加洛坎市（Caloocan City）之南；奎松市（Quezon City）之西南；仙范（San Juan）、曼達路永市（Mandaluyong city）之西；馬卡迪市（Makati City）之西北；巴薩市（Pasay City）之北。
馬尼拉市地理上與香港相距950公里、新加坡約2400公里。除了港區（Port Area）地區外，每一個市轄區均有教堂，其中有些教堂已成為區內市民的專屬禮拜教堂；和馬尼拉大都會內眾城比鄰。菲律賓總統府—Malaca?ang宮亦位於馬尼拉市，發揮著總統辦公室和總統官邸的中樞功能。

初到马尼拉，因为语言问题，儿子，媳妇上班后，我们从不外出。3天后，儿子教会我们以一些简单的问候语，以便我们进出时，碰上邻居问好能简单的回应。
我跟老伴不愿整天呆在家里，于是常常一起漫步街头或去教堂附近散步。
我们居住的地方离沙比大教堂不远。我们每天都经过河上的新千年桥，它是一座步行桥。我们就通过它，去那不受汽车和城市噪声干扰的沙比大教堂附近漫步。千年桥本身很美，一个个桥墩，如人向天空伸举两只巨臂，桥身如龙身一样在巨臂里呈现出优美的拱形，轻轻地架在“彼得山”的通道上。有时，过桥后我们并不急于去沙比大教堂，而是沿桥旁的石板阶梯而下，走在鹅卵石的街道上，看看两边那些巴洛克式和哥特式的建筑，闻闻酒吧飘出来的啤酒花的香味。偶尔传来几声教堂里的钟声，看着从身边驶过的老式出租车，就感觉恍然走进了十九世纪的菲律宾马尼拉，那意境，真的很美！
在街上看沙比大教堂只能看到圆形屋顶，老伴出语惊人：“老头子，你看看那顶‘大毡帽’！”沙比大教堂本来以其壮观的圆形屋顶而闻名，而在老伴的眼里，却成了颇具中国古老特色的“大毡帽”，我在笑得弯腰的时候，老伴却一脸正色地说：“你不夸我的爱国情，反倒还笑我？我这是典型的身在异国，心在中国呀！”也就在我弯腰的时候，我发现地上的鹅卵石上有一枚硬币，我拾起来对老伴说：“为了奖励你的爱国心，奖给你！”那是一枚2便士的硬币，背面图案是威尔士王子勋章，三根鸵鸟羽毛插在冠状头饰上。老伴接过硬币童心大发：“老头子，说不定马尼拉遍地是硬币呢！我们不抬头看‘毡帽’了，还是低头拾硬币吧！”这天，我们还真的拾到23便士呢！
晚上，我们跟儿子和洋媳妇说起我们路遇的趣事，洋媳妇好奇地睁大眼睛看着我们。儿子笑着说：“你们要真拾硬币，每天都能拾到的，但一般的菲律宾成年人都不拾路上的硬币，哪怕是5便士的硬币……”老伴打断儿子的话说：“他们怎么能这么糟蹋钱呢？”儿子笑着说：“妈，您听我说完，您也不会拾的。因为马尼拉也有非常贫穷的人，特别是贫穷人的孩子走失的时候，他们就靠这些硬币吃一个面包什么的，这些硬币其实是一些有善心的人有意无意丢失在路上的……”
后来出去散步，我跟老伴再也不低头拾硬币了，也如菲律宾人那样有意无意地把身上的硬币丢落在那些鹅卵石的路上。每一次听到丢落的硬币跟鹅卵石相碰的声音，我俩都感到特别清脆，优美。

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
