SWISS STYLE TOURNAMENT

This style of country-based tournament was first proposed by another fellow eSim-er (whose name, unfortunately, I could not remember). But I openly declare that this was not my brainchild and was originally developed by someone else and I have just made a few more improvements to it, and helped make it better for the welfare of eSim and its citizens.

So let’s run through this Swiss-Style stuff once. Normal knockout tournaments are generally created in the following way:
[{(2 x 2) x 2} x 2] and so on…
Or, simply put,
Let’s say we have 128 participants,
Thus, we get,
128→64→32→16→8→4→2→1
Thus, all these figures can be obtained from the repeated 2 multiplication method… (Try it out sometime)...

Now, let’s cut to the chase. The Swiss style gives us the opportunity to create a tournament or championship without having to have the exact amount of participants as the equation gives us.
In this instance I shall advocate a modified version of the Swiss style tournament which shall prove greatly beneficial if capitalized on.

In the case of Primera, the total participants figure is 50. Thus, unless we have at least 64 countries or cut the figure down to 32, we don’t have a chance to create a conventional country-based knockout championship.
The Swiss style tournament is essentially a cross between the league and the knockout systems. Partially, time consuming, (not as much time-consuming as the league system neither as quick as the knockouts) the Swiss style tournament is a very effective format.
Now, for the format:

FORMAT

C1 vs. C50
C2 vs. C49
C3 vs. C48
C4 vs. C47
And so on…
I’ve tried to give a humble graphical representation of the fixtures as follows...

After the first battles, as you can see, the countries are divided into two groups (or pools, as you may wish) - all the winning countries are grouped together in Group A and all the losing countries are grouped together in Group B. Now, the countries in both the groups face off against each other according to their rankings in terms of population in that group. You may be wondering that playing 25 people against each other will result in 24 playing [12 vs. 12] and 1 resulting as the observer. We can’t deny Maths can we? And so, we will accept this fact and still move on. How? Let’s find out.

We have only been considering one group in this case while there are two. That leaves us with 2 observers, not 1! Let me explain. The top 24 ranked countries of Group A face off against each other while the bottom 24 countries of Group B have a battle at their hands. This leaves out the 25th ranked country of Group A and the 1st ranked country of Group B who face off in another battle. Here is a graphical representation of the same.

After this round, the winners & losers are separated yet again into Groups – A & B.

It is now that this procedure is to be repeated totally several times until the final winner is obtained.

After this, I still have another suggestion to the admin. I suggest that after this competition is completed, (if it is held at all) a new ranking list to be maintained which shall depict the worldwide country rankings as the countries finished in the points table in the end. Also, I would like to advice that the countries should not loss from this championship in any means so that we don’t have weaker countries reluctantly playing tournaments just because they have to.
Also, don’t forget to vote this article in case you really like the article and the proposed competition and are willing to support it. You are also warmly welcomed to subscribe my newspaper for further great articles.
Your further comments & criticisms are welcome.

Cheers,
Arthish

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
