I've been writing this article in my head for just about 24 hours now; thinking about what I'd say when the dust settles. How I'd frame things and the perspective I'd want to put all of it into.

We put up a damn good fight, but we always do. I'd seen that before and seen the bitter disappointment in all of you when it turned out not to be enough.

That's always the hardest part. It's pretty easy for me to be pissed for a couple minutes, then walk away and say, 'Well, it's just a game.' But it's a lot harder to shake the knowledge that soon another handful would lose heart and I'd stop seeing you in the supply channel, the feeling that I'd let you down.

It's hard to shake that.

Then about 12 hours ago, I began to realize I was going to have to rewrite the article I was thinking of from scratch.

I remember holding onto that narrow lead in round 11, about four in the morning where I am. We had a good turn out. Patton 47 still had his medkits, the guys from Guerrilla laid down some good numbers and them crazy Russians showed up. That's what I love about the Russians, you never know when they're going to drop in but when you see that flag you know you've got a real fight. Poland tried pretty hard for that one.

I thought that was going to be the highlight of my day.

I wasn't holding out much hope for six in the morning. We still got a pretty good turn out and I was still coordinating with Guerrilla but, sure enough, Poland was ready and took us down by a cool 4.5 million. They were obviously done playing around.

At this point, I admit, I saw all the signs of defeat and was haunted by the thought of telling you all what a great job you did and how proud you should be, even in defeat, yet again.

We held up and let Poland take rounds 13 and 14. This wasn't because I'd given up, although some part of me had accepted defeat here as inevitable, I still wasn't going to go down without a fight. We never go down without a fight.

Right before the close of round 14, I started getting pinged.

A lot.

Not just Americans looking for supplies but Military Units around the world wanting to join the fight and wanting to know if I had some guns for them.
Lets be clear here: I've run several Military Units and, when you're in that position, you can't afford to act out of sentiment because you feel strongly about something. If you want people to lay down serious damage, you've got to provide.

Most importantly, they probably could have gotten more and better guns if they had talked to Poland. They wanted to fight here and they wanted to fight with us.

I was working with Geurilla and various guys from Phoenix, banannaboy brought Bonkers and British Armed Forces, and I let the guys from Orion come and hang out in the strike room along with a bunch of other people from everywhere. I Thank God Kitmen showed up at T-45 because I literally could not have gotten supplies out in time without him. We had a blast, the atmosphere was sheer pandemonium. We weren't sure we could win, but we were excited and we were making friends with people we'd never seen before from everywhere. I really liked the guys from Orion and hope to see them around more.

I remember Char Aznable , who hasn't done this a lot, struggling to figure out what these foreig's needed and trying to explain to them how we format supply requests and I remember saying to him, 'You're lucky these people speak English. Do the best you can.'

I want to say I knew we could win, but I really didn't even have time to think about it that far and really do the math. But some part of me, that instinct from having done this as many times as I have was telling me we had them this time.

There were easily 50-70 people ready to go on our side and god knows how many Poles and the lag was going to be insane, so I sent the order at T-4:30. Poland always wins Round 15. Always. They just don't hold anything back and they bury you. But not today.

I can't even describe those minutes.

If you weren't there, you'll never understand entirely.

Really, I can't put it any better than they did in the G7 room.

All that time we spent playing eSim and eRep, we play with the dream of moments like that that so often feel like they'll never be realized. And I got to be at the center of it all.

People were congratulating me and thanking me but, honestly, I would have paid to have the honor.

I don't know what's going to happen now.

We may yet end up invaded and occupied.

But we slayed a dragon today and I will remember this for all my years, even if it's just a game.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
