The job of an ambassador is to help maintain relationships with the country you are assigned to. This means talking to the leaders of their country to help negotiate treaties and to get another country to aid us in war. Ambassadors need to be active and need to know what is going on in the country they are assigned to at all times, they are required to write a weekly report on their country.

Here is a statement from experienced ambassador LordPariah who has worked in the Department of state several times.

Whether you realize it or not, being an ambassador is one of the most important jobs to have in the United States. You are the main eyes and ears on what is going on in a specific country since the MoFA(Minister of Foreign Affairs) cannot be available to everyone at all times, as hard as he may try. So by now you are probably wondering, what is it exactly an ambassador does? Well I will tell you! Basically, you are a representative of the United States Government. We will assign you a country where we feel you are best fit, and from there we give you the reigns. You will be responsible for reaching out to major parts of a foreign government, like the Country President (CP), Minister of Defence (MoD), and whoever else may be in charge of said country, and asking them about their current alliance, their current thoughts on the e-USA, and ways that we can improve relations between countries. Overall, it is a very fun job where you will meet a lot of nice people! Not to mention it looks great on a resume

For those of you looking to be an ambassador some basic diplomacy skills are needed, since you have to talk to other people from the country. Just being able to make some friends in your country and keep your ear to the ground will keep you in the loop of what is going on. Speaking a foreign language is highly valuable and is a skill that could be greatly used by the department of state. The folks in charge of the department of state will be able to send you up with all you need to know about the other country including IRC rooms and forum links. They will be able to get you all set up.

To apply just send the Secretary of State a message in-game or find him on IRC. If you do not know who that is look on the forums under the executive board or just ask someone on IRC and they will probably be able to tell you. Currently, you should contact either Molly Emma , or Sermokala .

Very good article, had a good time meeting new people and lucky for us, the international language is English so everyone I dealt with can speak to me in English, although I do have fun with pulling out google translate every once in awhile and pretend I know a little bit

If you get on their IRC channel, you get to learn alot about their culture and how it's difference from the US culture as well as the similarities

Bonus points for people who speak other languages. This is a really fun job to learn not just about american life and events but experience the world in another countries eyes. I started out as an ambassador and now I'm the top diplomat for america.

No matter how big or small the country that you're posted to YOU DO make a difference even if you'll never be allowed to know it.
