Kejuaraan beregu putra yang mengikuti format Piala Thomas dan Sudirman Cup ini diikuti tim nasional terbaik dari enam negara di Asia Tenggara. Axiata Cup 2012 diikuti enam negara Asia, yaitu Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, dan Filipina.
Indonesia dan Malaysia, masing-masing mengirimkan dua tim. Tidak hanya itu, masing masing negara dipastikan menurunkan pemain terbaiknya, seperti Malaysia yang siap mengirim pemain nomor satu dunia Lee Chong Wei dan juara ganda putra Asia Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong. Mereka tergabung dalam Tim Malaysia Tigers.
Indonesia juga tidak mau kalah di ajang kejuaraan beregu pertama di Asia Tenggara yang menggunakan format tiga partai ini. Indonesia menurunkan peraih tiga medali emas olimpiade Taufik Hidayat dan ganda terkuat Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan dalam Tim Indonesia Garuda. Mereka akan diperkuat Juara SEA Games Simon Santoso serta juara Asia Sony Dwi Kuncoro dan ganda Bona Septano-Mohammad Ahsan. Tim yang diturunkan oleh PBSI adalah Indonesia Garuda dan Indonesia Rajawali.
Format Kejuaraan yang mengizinkan setiap tim untuk menggunakan pemain asing dimanfaatkan oleh Filipina. Negara terlemah di kawasan Asia Tenggara ini akan menjadi kuda hitam berbahaya dengan mengontrak pemain ganda asal Denmark, Mathias Boe, yang pernah menduduki peringkat satu dunia bersama Carsten Mogensen.
Mathias Boe akan berpasangan dengan Marc Zwiebler. Pemain asal Jerman ini juga memiliki catatan rekor menarik dengan mengalahkan deretan nama-nama pemain top dunia beberapa tahun terakhir. Mathias Boe dan Marc Zwiebler akan menjadi tulang punggung Tim Filipina yang menurunkan pemain terbaiknya Antonio Benjamin Gadi, Paul Jefferson Vivas dan Ronel Estanislao.
Thailand mengirim pemain terbaiknya, seperti Boonsak Ponsana yang pernah menduduki peringkat keempat dunia. Pemain yang menjadi ikon bulutangkis negeri Gajah Putih ini diharapkan bisa memimpin para pemain muda, seperti Suppanyu Avihingsanon dan Pisit Poodchalat untuk menggoyang kekuatan Malaysia dan Indonesia.
Sedangkan Vietnam memiliki pemain berbahaya yang pernah mengalahkan tunggal pertama Malaysia Lee Chong Wei dan tunggal pertama Indonesia Taufik Hidayat. Dia adalah Nguyen Tien Minh. Pemain berusia 29 tahun ini pernah merasakan peringkat tertinggi dalam karirnya yaitu mencapai posisi peringkat kelima dunia tahun 2010.
Singapura akan menurunkan pemain flamboyan Chayut Triyachart dan pemain debutan Robin Gonansa, Ashton Chen, serta Derek Wong. Negeri Singa ini berambisi untuk mendapatkan hadiah besar dari Axiata Cup yang mencapai total 1 juta dollar AS.
Kejuaraaan bulutangkis Axiata Cup 2012 akan diselenggarakan di Indonesia dan Malaysia pada 23 Maret hingga 15 April 2012. Di Indonesia akan diselenggarakan di Tennis Indoor Senayan dan Sport Mall Kelapa gading, sedangkan Malaysia menyelenggarakan di Stadium Badminton Cheras Kuala Lumpur.
"Cabang olahraga yang memiliki banyak penggemar di Indonesia salah satunya adalah bulutangkis, kami sini sengaja menyajikan untuk para pemirsa ANTV, agar bisa secara langsung atau tidak langsung memberi dukungannya bagi tim bangsa Indonesia," tutur Direktur Utama ANTV Dudi Hendrakusuma.
ANTV akan menyiarkan secara langsung Axiata Cup selama lebih dari 20 jam, terdiri dari enam pertandingan babak penyisihan, empat pertandingan babak semifinal yang menggunakan sistim home and away, serta dua partai final juga dengan sistem home dan away.
Sebagai laga pertama, Axiata Cup 2012 mengadakan pertandingan Malaysia Leopards vs Singapore di Lapangan Tenis Indoor Senayan, Jumat (23/3/2012).

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
