tl;dr version

So, hey America. How you been? I haven't seen you in a while.

You remember me, don't you?!?

Sorry, I'm not really avoiding you but I've been pretty busy what with organizing TOP GUN communes and then the market crashed and I had to run around and reorganize and now we're expanding and I have to reorganize again. It's a lot of work but me and Molly have put together a good program. Maybe a bit too good, seems like by the time I get everything settled from our last commune expansion, we've got enough for the next one.

Oh well, that's a good problem to have, isn't it?

It gets to be a lot, sometimes.

So, after I got everything to the point where I could put it on Molly-pilot, I sorta disappeared, bought a bag and got high for a few days. Sorry, Molly. I'll warn you next time, promise.

I came back and set to work on what the hell to do next. So much to do! I think we're going to have to start hiring.. Such a hassle!

Now, I do want to talk to you about a little something that happened today.

We signed an MPP with France, in a hurry, to fight in an important battle in Northern France and I got wind on IRC that supplies would be available. So, I went into the strike room and asked if there were any weapons available and they asked me to post my link. I did and I got myself 30 Q1 weapons and 10 Q3 Food.

Now, there's a little problem with that. I got food. Everyone in TOP GUN gets 10 Q4's a day. So, I sent it back.

So, alright. I asked if it would be okay if they could just give me some guns to distribute to my guys. They said, 'No, they need to come on IRC.' That's pretty understandable. We can't just be writing blank checks to people because they're cool and post ponies. Here's the thing, though. Most of my guys didn't come into IRC for supplies and just fought the battle. The ones that did got food they didn't need, when what they really needed was weapons and maybe tickets.

Most MU's have some sort of commune/supply system in place.

They're all different and, if you want to supplement the damage of people from MU's, the only people that really know how to do that efficiently and effectively are the people who run the MU's.

So, where am I going with this, right?

As an MU Leader, my responsibility is to use the funding at my disposal, given to me by my members and the results of their production, to provide from the as much as I possibly can. This means, I can't go in and cash in a bunch of our gold when there's an important fight to buy as many weapons as possible. It's not my money and, frankly, it's a waste to spend gold on guns when I could be upgrading our Gun company. It's my responsibility to look out for the members of my MU, not the nation.

As a nation, it is the responsibility of our national leaders to maximize the damage potential of our population.

Frequently, these two objectives coincide. But we're a young nation and I'm looking down the road and, as we grow and branch out and as we develop more Military Units, what reason do any of us to do the bidding of the politicians? The Military certainly does, as that's their source of funding but there's just no reason for me to put my damage where you guys want it and, instead, put it where I might have other friends and interests? That's a hypothetical question, and I bet a lot of people are going to be all 'DON'T YOU LOVE AMERICA?!?' at me now, but regardless of what I do, that's going to be a problem we face as we grow and expand.

So, we have two problems.

1) Redundant supplies of Military Unit members, as if they were any other citizen.
2) No reason for Military Units to put damage where the Nation wants it.

Many of you already know the solution, even if you haven't seen it before.

If we want to make every dollar and every fight count, and if we want our Military Units all fighting on the same team, we need a funding mechanism.

America gets more damage and more bang for it's buck and, I might add, a healthy shot in the Product Market. Military Units get to give their members the things they need to make it count and, better yet, America gets a carrot to bring our MU's the the battles we want them in and a stick to whack them with if they aren't playing ball.

BOOM - Headshot

There should be checks and balances. Receipts collected. People accountable. All that good stuff.

But you get the idea.

We give MU leaders whatever USD the Government has ear-marked for a particular battle, those MU's go out and buy extra equipment and supplies to make their fights count all that much more.

What happens when someone's dicking around or under preforming, you ask?

Their MU takes a hit. Not only do they stop getting those supplies in the future, but that extra money they would have had is given to the OTHER MILITARY UNITS. Believe me, that's stuff I would not want.

I don't think we should be too draconian with this, though. MU's aren't part of the Government and should be allowed to use their own funds at their own discretion and fight in the battles they think are important and even opt out of battles the Government thinks is important. This is America. We're allowed to disagree and we're allowed to go in our own direction. What's *important*, however, is that Government funding of Military Units should be distributed for a particular battle and any Military Unit accepting that funding GIVES UP ITS AUTONOMY FOR THAT BATTLE. They also shouldn't be funded at the level of the real, honest-to-god Government Military. Seems obvious, to me, but I should probably clarify. But sending a few bucks at our MU's is a good way to squeeze out some extra damage when we need it.

We should probably say something about MU leaders not running around and breaking our Non-Aggression Pacts, too. ;O But I'll leave that for the politicos to hash out.

So, there we are, America. Another way too long article with a lot of ponies and some food for thought.

I'm afraid I need to go finish reorganizing communes and see if I can convince Publius that gifts are really the direction we should head in next. I'm also going to have to figure out a job program and, you know, I just might need your help, America. More on that later.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
