Hello! In today's guide, the last one in the series, we will be looking at how you can get more involved with the community.

Start A Newspaper!
Once you've reached level 4, you are able to start your very own newspaper. Costing just 2 Gold, its inexpensive, and contributing quality articles to the UK press helps to keep the UK's community alive. To create a newspaper, simply navigate to "My Places", and then "Newspaper".

Your newspaper's name will have to be unique to you, and you are able to add an avatar if you wish. Once you've created your paper, you can start writing articles!

Writing Articles
Once your paper is set up, you can navigate to "My Places" and then "Newspaper" to start writing your first article. Fig. 1 explains the functions of the "Write New Article" page.

Fig. 1 - The "write new article" screen explained.

When writing your first article, you'll notice that to format the page, including functions such as bolding text, adding URLs and displaying images, you have to use BBCode, which is a simplified form of HTML used by the e-Sim article editor. Don't worry, its not as hard to understand as it may seem - Fig. 2 is a handy table explaining all the functions of BBCode on e-Sim to you.

Fig. 2 - BBCode and how to use it in an article.

Once you've published an article, it will appear in the latest" tab of the news box on the homepage of anyone else living in the country you published it in. If people like it, they may give it a vote, and leave a comment. The articles with the most votes in the last two days locally will appear in the "local" tab, and those with the most votes globally will appear in the "global" tab.

Newspaper Medals
You can earn the Media Mogul medal with your newspaper! Fig. 3 explains what it is and how to achieve it, grabbing 5 Gold in the process.

Newspaper Achievements
You can also earn three achievements for operating a newspaper. These are outlined below in Fig. 4.

The Forums
Another great way of getting involved is to access the official e-UK forums . e-UK has an active forum community, with some great discussions and community building going on every day. Its a great way to meet some fellow e-UKers, and make some friends. Plus, signing up to the forums gives you access to many of the Welfare Schemes outlined in Stage 2 of this guide series.

Registering is quick and easy, and once your registered you can gain access to the main forums, as well as the private forums for your political party and military unit, upon request. Its really worth a few minutes of your time a day!

IRC
"Internet Relay Chat" is a popular method of communication utilised by the whole e-Sim community. It works through the use of channels (simply put: chat rooms), where you can join and have an immediate chat with the community.

e-UK's main channel is #e-UK on irc.rizon.net (channel and server name respectively), but you can read about a load more channels that parties, military units, and other countries use here .

IRC where a lot of discussion takes place in real time and can also be quite fun on occasions. If you're interested in getting more involved, becoming IRC active is a great way to get noticed.

If you need to know something or are just bored and fancy wasting some time, there's always someone around who can either help you or talk about interests outside e-sim and other topics with you.

IRC is easy to access. There are a few options to do so:

Web based IRC

Mibbit is a commonly used website to connect to IRC. Its not the best method out there, but it has the advantage of being quick and easy to use. In fact, follow this link to jump straight into #e-UK through your browser right now!

Using an IRC client

If you're going to use IRC regularly, you should definitely download a client. There are a number of popular options. Some Firefox users swear by the ChatZilla Firefox plugin . The biggest and most well known client is mIRC (although this is considered a pay for client). Other options include: Pidgin (this is a universal client which can also handle your MSN chat amongst other things), and KVIrc .

There are others if you want to do some research. If you have a client you can set up many more options, etc. For any client you need to access a rizon server (irc.rizon.net or irc.shakeababy.net). There is a server option on all of these clients, where you will need to enter that address. If you used the link under the Mibbit section above, the server and channel has already been entered for you .

Once you're set up with any of the above methods you need to register your nick . This prevents people from posing as you on IRC, and pratting around or shamefully slandering your good name!

Remember, all channel names must start with a "#".
There is a lot more to IRC, but this can be explained by one of our friendly residents once you've connected.

Hopefully that's cleared up any confusion you may have had about IRC! If you have any more qualms, please feel free to message me on e-Sim and I'll do my best to help!

Conclusions
So, as you can see, there are many ways for you to get more involved in e-Sim, now you've completed this tutorial course. From starting a newspaper, to the forums, to IRC, its easy to see why e-UK has built up such a solid community based around e-Sim. I hope to see you around soon!

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
